Let the Journey begin (part 1)! The squad has finally made it to Guatemala! It has taken quite some time to find wifi that is willing to post this blog – but hopefully this works! We did another week of training in Georgia, and now have been in Guatemala for just over 2 weeks! We spent one day at the Adventures in Missions Base so that we could receive a cultural orientation, and from there the teams all split up! My team moved to San Antonio Aguas Calientes, Guatemala, which is a small village about 30 minutes outside of Antigua.

We arrived at the base!

We are staying with a wonderful host and her family. She has dedicated this month to cooking every meal for us and blessing us with her home and kindness! Her family has been amazing; they have cooked us so many meals already, and it has been fun to learn of different meals that are common in this country.

Black beans are common at most meals here.

Plantains are another common food item here!

The culture of Guate is KINDNESS. It radiates EVERYWHERE! Right from the beginning we had many divine appointments with people. We have met so many locals on the streets, on hikes, throughout our ministry days, etc. who have poured out their hearts to us. It has been humbling and so beautiful to see the hearts of the people here. They are so giving and kind.

On one of our first days, we met a woman named Irla who sold beautiful items at a store in town. When we went to visit her, she was so excited and wanted to dress us up in traditional Guatemalan clothing.

This month, our ministry days are very diverse. We are volunteering on a farm, doing home visits with locals, VBS, discipleship, helping Worship Room with worship nights, and doing a soccer program for kids. I will get more in depth on what our daily grind looks like in my next blog, but for now just enjoy some extra photos from the first 2 weeks in Guate!

Prayers for our teams would be greatly appreciated! We could use prayers for restoration of health, protection for those who are not sick, and open hearts for the people we are sharing Jesus with. Also, I am still fundraising! I have just about $3,000 left to go! So if you would partner in praying or if you feel led to donate that would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you all for reading, and I’ll be attempting to post a part 2 VERY SOON with more details on what our daily ministry days look like!
