That’s a wrap of week 2 in Costa Rica! The time is flying here and I’m actually sad about it. As I mentioned in my previous blog, each week of ministry is looking different here. Last week was home visits, evangelism, and a lot of community interaction. This week, however, was filled with manual labor and leading youth events for the church we are a part of.
We began the week off with DIGGING. We dug around the foundation of a church, the second location church to the one we are partnered with.
Digging, Making Cement, & Filling it in!
The purpose of this was so we could fill it in with concrete to protect the church from rain. We accomplished all of that this past week, AND got to make our own cement and fill it in. It was awesome.
We also had the opportunity to lead the children and a youth event for the church. We did skits, lead games, had a message, activities, snacks, worship, and time to get to know the youth afterwards. It was an incredible night.

Aliseya KILLIN’ it sharing on how we view God to the youth
My two favorite parts were both from the youth event. Firstly, after my teammate Aliseya led a message (COMPLETELY IN SPANISH, YOU GO GIRL!) we split into two groups and drew pictures of how we view God. At first, the teens were hesitant and were not drawing anything, but once we got into it, they all started to draw and made beautiful pictures, all unique to how the Lord reveals Himself to them. There were drawings of music notes, a soccer field, a heart, flowers, a rainbow…etc. One girl in the group started off by telling me she didn’t know what to draw and she didn’t have any ideas about how she views God. I started praying for the group and that the Holy Spirit would just speak to them and after the time to draw was up, she ended up having one of the most beautiful pictures. She explained her picture of these little pink flowers she drew as something she sees often, and how it is like little reminders that God is everywhere (at least, I believe that’s what she said… I was the only one in the group that wasn’t fluent in Spanish hahaha). It was really beautiful to see them step out of their comfort zone and share with each other how they see the Lord.
The second favorite part was during worship. Another teammate of mine, Talaya, brought out these beautiful banners to dance with, and was doing that. I don’t want to steal her story, but the Holy Spirit told her to pass the banners off and as she did, one young 14 year old took it and just exploded in beautiful dances in the middle of the circle we were worshipping in. It was literally so beautiful. I know I mentioned this in my last blog too but I’m telling ya’ll…the people here are INCREDIBLE. And that goes for the young ones too! This young teenager has so much faith, and is so bold to be who God created her to be…it was beautiful to be a part of.

Anyways, I just wanted to share a quick update about our second week here. Have a blessed Sunday and week everyone!

That’s so awesome Jessie. Thanks for sharing! I love hearing what you’re doing and it’s a reminder to continue to pray for you and your group. I always love the pictures as well!
Thanks again Jessie for the update and pictures. We are praying that God protects and uses you and your team for His glory. I’m jealous that I am here in NH and you get to go. Maybe someday……..
Jessie Thanks again for your writing to us and keeping us updated.
You are a blessing to those who you are with in serving the people who are in need ??
Thanks for your sharing, but you seem to be having too much fun. But I suspect that the Lord is pleased with your team & your witness for Him.

Your blogs and pics always make me feel like I’m right there, Jessie. And they make us miss you all even more. Thanks for reflecting God’s love to the people of Costa Rica. Really proud of you guys!
When I was reading this blog, I could not help but hear the joy in your voice. And I thought, this is your own personal Psalm 30:11!
